My Lessons will take the format of an introductory first two lessons where I will assess where my student is in their lessons at school and how I can navigate according to this. A foundational understanding at this point. After this, I then intend on pinpointing struggle areas and making sure to break down the content of these topics and condition my tutees knowledge. Following some practice questions. At the beginning of each lesson there will be warm up questions consisting of easier topics I have identified the tutee is comfortable with. At the end of each topic I will put in place a small topic test whilst setting a few questions per lesson as homework of course not too strenuous. With knowledge of the child’s exam board for older students I will throughly prepare my lessons around the specification to ensure that my student has a thorough understanding of all topics to equip them in the classroom when learning this topic and also in assessments or exams. I plan to format my session in 20 minute slots with a 3 minute break in between as it is scientifically proven that after 25 minutes students begin to lose focus and cannot retain knowledge and therefore should be taught in 25 minute chunks. I plan to make my lessons very easy going and comfortable and something for my tutees to look forward to instead of dread. As I was once a student and I understand going to a tutor may not seem exciting but I would like to make my sessions different and easy!
