I have experience about teaching math to high school or lower students. I will guide them through the questions rather than giving direct answers, and I believe it’s the best way of learning math. My lesson include two parts: learning basic math principles and solving problems.
For the first part, I will simplify the math principles and formulas as easy as student can accept, helping them understand new knowledge quickly. It’s OK that some students can’t remember and understand all the learning knowledge, because in my second part I’ll reinforce the extent to which they have mastered the knowledge. For problem solving part, I’ll start by dealing’s with easy questions. By reminding students about the relevant knowledge for the question, I’ll help them build connections to principles to practical problems. If the student find it difficult to use knowledge for problem solving, I’ll guide them through the procedure briefly. After finishing all the simple question, I’ll ask the student about their questions or difficulties of using knowledge. It’s the best time to review some unfamiliar knowledge after the first problem solving period. Then we can move on solving harder questions, and I’ll give less hints of how to use principles and formulas in each questions. This problem solving part will repeat until students are able to solve hard questions by themselves, and finally I’ll give an short exam on this lesson’s knowledge. I’ll mark after students finish my exam and help them analyze their errors and problems.
That’s how my math lesson works. I hope I can make more students be interested in math like me and improve their grades.
