The approach I take is to work through examples with students and then give an example for students to explain back to me. My lessons will be different depending upon the age group being taught. For age group in primary school they will be taught through pictures and diagrams of plants and animals to explain the importance of them, the topics will differ depending on what parents wish their child to be taught. For age group in secondary school they will be taught depending on the exam board, but again through diagrams and walking through examples to help students understand topics at a deeper level, this teaching technique will be adapted depending on how the students learns. After the topic is taught to student they will be given exam questions that increase in difficulty to work through alone and then I will assist them with areas that they don’t understand. My experience includes me teaching year 12s at my school biology to support their learning, I have developed my ability to apply my ability to teach to students unique way to learn and understand topics. Before starting to teach biology to students in secondary schools I will ask them about how they find themselves learning topics and what areas they particularly struggle grasping so that I am able to teach them in a way that they will understand the topic and focus on areas that they don’t understand by giving more exam questions to work through and explaining the topic as many times as possible for student to understand.
