I use a personal approach when it comes to teaching e.g using my student's favorite food and the process of preparation to breakdown and explain a system first then I proceed to explain what a computer system is and what computer science entails in detail. It has yielded lots of progress for my students in the understanding and knowledge of computer science as a whole. Students can only enjoy learning a topic/subject/course if and only if the tutor/teacher introduces them to it in such a way that uses everyday things they know and work with to explain and simplify what is being taught. I use this method because a personal approach in tutoring helps bring the topic/subject/course closer home and taking away the belief that it is hard and possibly unachievable. Well, the fact is that even rocket science is taught and the teachers, learners don't have 2 heads. So anyone given the right mindset and a good tutor can learn it. I en-devour to set this mindset and a relatable learning environment with my students to ease or get rid of the stressful perspective about learning. Students given the right motive both in life and by their tutors get to excel in those areas and communicating that is a key factor in my tutorials. We will be breaking down how and when each of the ingredients that make up the students favorite food is used then allocate each ingredient and it's relative time to computer science and software development.
