Methodology

I combine an interactive approach with structured exercises based around your syllabus to ensure you develop both an understanding of how the target language works and the confidence required to use it in practice.

In our first session, we will discuss your goals and identify the areas in which you feel you need to focus. I will then design sessions tailored around your specific needs to ensure that each class is relevant and appropriate to your level. In this initial session, you will also be able to make clear any preferences you have as to lesson dynamic (e.g., to avoid formal grammar study or to emphasise spoken practice).

Experience

I have a first class degree in Modern Languages from Oxford University and I have been tutoring students since 2011. I have helped students exceed their target grades at GCSE and A-level and have also taught in the French public school system. I have also practised as a lawyer for three years, developing a strong ability to explain complex ideas simply. I am often commended for my approachable, friendly attitude and ability to teach complicated concepts in an interesting, easy-to-follow manner. I am currently taking the Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at Stafford House, London.

Lesson dynamic

Lessons with me are engaging and interesting. Language is best learned in context, so I use a combination of articles, audio recordings, YouTube clips and other real-world resources to explain new concepts and consolidate your skills. I will adapt these to your level, give you plenty of opportunity to speak and practise, and ensure that our sessions are focused around helping you to achieve your specific aims.
