Hello wonderful people! I'm Will. I'm 30, English, current writer, former teacher (English & Chinese), and all-time traveller.

English Conversation:

My aim in teaching here is simple: To help students with their conversational, everyday English.
My teaching style in English is informal and relaxed. I love to help my students gain confidence in speaking through unplanned conversations. Whether you want help with grammatical forms, pronunciation, or help understanding idioms and cultural ideas in English, I can help. I know that confidence and comfort in a new language comes through speaking practise, so my aim is to give you a relaxed environment in which to practice.
My lessons won't normally be planned, they'll just be natural conversations which can go wherever we like. I'm cheerful, patient, and interesting in nearly everything, from Literature to TV to gardening. If you feel more comfortable expressing yourself in this beautiful language by the end of our time working together, I will have done my job.
If you'd like more planned and structured lessons because that is how you personally learn best, that is of course very possible! I'm flexible in approach, and can happily listen to your needs and cater my lessons to your requirements.

Mandarin Chinese:

I studied Mandarin Chinese at university and have a deep and long-lasting fascination with Chinese culture. Whether you're just interested and want a taster, or you're going to China soon and need a handle of the basics to help you get by, I offer classes in speaking and listening to beginners (conversational or more structured, according to the student's preference), and we can obviously enthuse about different aspects of Chinese culture too!

About me:

I'm a writer and former English teacher in schools and universities around the world, from China to India to Spain. My home base is the UK. From here I'm tutoring students from all walks of life - and I'm looking to take on more students who want to improve their conversational English. I'm very interested in world cultures and literatures, in traditional ideas and customs, in different religions and ways of looking at the world. Apart from the above, I've also lived in Greece for six months, and Italy, doing all kinds of different jobs. If you're open-minded, I'm sure we'll find something interesting and engaging to talk about!
