I will start by getting an understanding of my students and their interests in the chosen subject. I hope to build an equal-standing environment where my students are comfortable and engaged with their subject matter. This then allows me to get a better understanding of how they best learn and create lesson plans around that knowledge.
I have seen and experienced a range of different teaching methods and use them all to my student's advantage. Whether you thrive off of books and logic or prefer more abstract and hands-on approaches, I believe I have a method best suited for you.
Once a solid understanding of my students' aims and goals is achieved I will start with a simple board range discussion to understand their current areas of expertise as well as their areas of trouble. With this I will create a plan of tasks, breaking down the concepts into easily understood and practicable activities.
These activities can vary from the standard comprehension and reapplication of a formula for logical thinkers to a more practical exercise that allows a student's intuition to take advantage of complex concepts and break them down into their fundamental concepts. I believe that simply reading a formula doesn't lead to a functional understanding as it often leads to a disconnect between theory and reality. Thus, my hope is to bridge the two and, in doing so, create an enjoyable experience that fuels my student's passion for learning.
Overall, my plan is to create a curated experience for my students with a range of activities and tasks tailored for their growth.
