I believe that good conversation is the most natural and beneficial way to truly learn a new language. For that reason my lessons are usually based around a dialogue, exploring topics that are relevant and meaningful to you. We will always set out what it is that you want to achieve from our lessons and I will tailor the lessons to suit your desires, needs and learning style. We can move as slow or as fast as you like, working on the finer points to give you the confidence to use English in your personal, professional or educational life.
I am also a professional editor, so I have a deep understanding of English grammar (what an unecessarily complicated thing that can be!) and syntax. This means I can help you to learn this in a natural, conversation-based context. Or, if you want to improve your writing skills, my expertise could be invaluable to you!

I have experience teaching English as a second language in both informal and formal settings: First, in a small school in Colombia where I worked, through conversations, games and activities to help my students gain the confidence to work in the tourist industry and apply for jobs in the US. Second, in an ESL college in my hometown, working with young people who already had a good level of English to move towards proficiency and use the skills they learnt in classrooms out in the real world.
