There is no one set format to my lessons, I believe the tutoring is most beneficial when the tutee has an input on the learning experience. For this reason, whenever I take on a new client I open a dialogue with them to establish what their immediate and long term goals, as well as any preferences they have for learning styles. I will then go away and create a bespoke program, focusing in on whatever the individual student has flagged up to me initially. Every student has different strengths and weaknesses, a program could focus upon improving essay writing skills, recapping and soldifying key historical knowledge, or many other topics. However, this does not mean that the program is set in stone, at the end of every session I have a couple minutes of review with the tutee to recieve feedback and help me adapt the coming sessions as I build a better relationship with them. For me, an informal dynamic is extremely important during the sessions, it allows the student to not feel intimidated at their lack of understanding and build confidence in their own ability.
