I have been tutoring secondary school pupils up to GCSE level in maths for more than 10 years. I have particular experience with pupils preparing for 11+ exams and also for various entrance exams for secondary schools. This sometimes involves more intensive tuition and extra homework to meet these needs. It also involves me teaching pupils how to stay calm and pace themselves through the exam. My lessons have been online and face to face. I am passionate about maths and I try to ensure my lessons are interesting and stimulating as well as making sure pupils make strong progress. I have experience of teaching children sitting tests for different exam boards.
I teach children of all abilities and I am proud of my track record of taking struggling students up to top sets in maths and through to exams with impressive pass grades. The student’s need will dictate the speed and intensity of my lessons but the basic method is teach and revise. This often entails various amounts of homework, which I am happy to set and mark in my own time. In this way both student and teacher are able to closely monitor progress. Once I have established my student’s level and requirements, I will draw up an individual plan to maximise their progress within the framework of whatever course they are following or exam board they are sitting. Finally maths learning has to be teamwork between teacher and pupil, and I relish my role in guiding pupils to reach their potential in maths.
