My lessons are structured and planned for individual students, taking into account their level of ability, their confidence in the topic which is going to be taught. I will usually have a five minute chat to them before commencing the session to explain the structure of the lesson, what I will be covering in the lesson, how confident they come across in knowing the subject about to be taught and their prior knowledge of it . Prior to getting into the main part of the lesson I will set 10 quick starter questions on past topics to get them ready for the lesson and will then go over the lesson objective and the topic I will be covering.I will explain the topic in detail going through several worked examples using the different steps to show how I derived at my solutions, continuously checking the students understanding of the topic and keeping up regular conversation while explaining my calculations to them. When I have covered the topic in the main part of the lesson I will give the student book work or a work sheet on a similar exercise to work through to check their understanding of what I have just taught, checking with them if they are confident in working through the questions or whether they require additional support in the topic or going through further examples which I show them on a whiteboard or in their exercise books
