I have a Master's degree and a PhD in Social Sciences. I have always loved teaching, because I find it very rewarding to help students overcome their difficulties, gain confidence and progress towards reaching their goals. As a lifelong learner myself, I have a deep understanding of the difficulties faced by those who embark on the highly rewarding, but also challenging, journey of learning a new subject (fear of failing, discouragement, lack of time, lack of motivation…etc), and I am well-equipped to help students overcome these difficulties. I have over 10 years of experience in teaching and tutoring students from a wide range of backgrounds. I have developed and demonstrated, through my previous teaching experiences many skills that help me to be a great tutor. My main skill is the capacity to communicate and work effectively with students from a variety of linguistic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. The other skill I developed as a teacher is the ability to acknowledge my students’ strengths and achievements to reinforce their self-confidence, as well as the capacity to give my students appropriate feedback and identify appropriate strategies to overcome their difficulties, so that they can progress and achieve their goals. Another skill that I first learnt as a teacher, and further developed while working as a counselor in Australia, is the ability to connect with people and make them feel comfortable. This crucial skill enables me to create a safe and supportive environment where students can feel confident and overcome their fears of failing or of leaving their comfort zone.
