Viral in a nutshell
I have 5 years of tutoring experience and am also from the first cohort who did the new style A-levels for maths and further maths as well as the 9-1 GCSE's. As I did these fairly recently, I feel I can relate to the student more and understand the syllabus and its quirks better. I also achieved 3 A*s for all my A-levels from initially being a B grade student, hence I am confident in my revision...
I have 5 years of tutoring experience and am also from the first cohort who did the new style A-levels for maths and further maths as well as the 9-1 GCSE's. As I did these fairly recently, I feel I can relate to the student more and understand the syllabus and its quirks better. I also achieved 3 A*s for all my A-levels from initially being a B grade student, hence I am confident in my revision and study techniques. My style is to usually leave theory and content within the classes at school, as this is the best environment for that, whereas I focus on the exam technique, thought process and methodology. This is to achieve the most efficient solutions as time is a big factor for a lot of students. I used to read the theory over and over, and sometimes you just can't understand it. The best way to grasp concepts is through doing, lots and lots of questions. This then becomes second nature, and understanding that the same question can be asked in a multitude of different ways is what separates the A* students from the B students. In the exam you should feel like you've done most fo the questions before, and that is my speciality - we will work through old questions from a range of exam boards, my own question sheets and papers which are completely original and usually a bit harder - to fully test the student on multiple concepts. I also ensure to give homework every week that the student can do in their own time, as their own college work is the priority. I wished that someone would've taught me these techniques during my time at college but it took me months to figure it out through trial and error, so I hope I am able to share these methods with you.
