I have previously worked with primary school, secondary school and A level students tutoring them in various subjects. I know that everyone learns differently and will work with you to find what suits you best, whether that is going through work you are struggling with, sharing resources I have found helpful to me in the past, explaining concepts in simple and engaging terms, quizzing you to ensure you understand the topic.
My lessons take place online and we make use of several resources. In the past I have created presentations, worksheets, quizzes, and self-study work to support my tutees. I myself never had a tutor during any of my schooling so became a bit of an expert at searching out the most helpful learning techniques, websites, and textbooks.
My experience:
I have tutored primary school children in basic mathematics and english in preparation for their SATs, using playful and engaging tasks to help them both learn and enjoy that learning.
I tutored secondary school children in French, Science, Maths, Geography, and English GCSEs. A typical GCSE tutoring session would include an initial introduction to the session's topic, answering any questions you might have, then working through some example questions to hone your exam technique - which is (unfortunately) just as important as your actual understanding when it comes to test taking.
I took A-level Maths, Biology, and Psychology and tutored lower sixth students in biology when I was in my second year. Again, a typical A-level session would include an explanation and discussion of the present topic followed by some quizzing and practice exam questions. Particularly for A-level, I love to share interesting super-curricular resources such as videos, upcoming talks, or books that I found helped to nurture my passion for these subjects.
I have also mentored several students through their application process to university, helping them with the development and writing of their personal statement and preparation for any entrance exams they may have.
Whether you would like a one off bit of help on a piece of work or a test or if you'd like to work more long-term on improving your comprehension, I am super excited to help you!
