I've been tutoring for the last 3 and a half years, primarily working with GCSE students and students learning English as a second language. In terms of how my lessons work, I try and communicate with students to find out what styles of learning best suit them and then, I tailor lessons to include whatever they many need. For example, some students are visual learners and therefore, they may learn easier having visual prompts like a PowerPoint on the screen. I try and get students to actively tackle the curriculum from the first lesson; this usually includes asking students to attempt past paper questions or quizzing them briefly on standard curriculum topics. So far, across my tutoring journey, I've been successful in supporting students achieve top grades while at the same time, improving their confidence (which often plays a massive part in student success.)
