I am a piano teacher with a Master’s degree and teaching diploma from the Royal Academy of Music, with years of experience in teaching students of all ages and abilities, including successfully preparing students for ABRSM and Trinity/Guildhall exams.
Through a combination of learning through pieces of different styles and exercises, how to play the piano through reading music - step by step increasing challenges to achieve maximum benefit and a healthy learning curve.
I am experienced in teaching students with very different goals, and am therefore flexible in tailoring the approach so that you feel it’s the most useful and enjoyable for you.
Furthermore, I have had students with hugely varied schedules, some with more time and some with less time to practise in between classes - these are things that I take into consideration when tailoring lessons and deciding on which type of repertoire to learn.
My main training at conservatoire has been in classical piano. There is so much to be learnt from pieces from the classical repertoire, both in terms of musicality and expression as well as technique. Having said this, I have quite substantial experience of pop music and have also learnt a bit of jazz piano, so if you are interested in working on this or a combination of several genres - this is entirely possible too.
I sometimes arrange student concerts to ensure my pupils get a chance to perform.
I look forward to hearing from you and to share how I can help you learn and develop your piano playing.
