My lessons are tailored to what it is you would like to know and working together to achieve the skills and knowledge for putting into use. Lessons can be adapted for additional needs and I take requests if there is something specific you would like to know. I can bring elements such as history and theory into the lessons as well if needed. The format I use can be books, such as art movement books or books such as children's illustrated books or books on plants depending on what imagery the student desires to create. I can run an in depth break down of different mark making materials and how they are used and used together, paper types and linocut print making. Drawing for relaxation too, such as colour therapy and overall journaling and mark making for personal use. We can talk about the benefits of digital assets such as the Adobe suite and digital drawing and the programmes and devices the offer this. We can look into movements if required, such as environmental art and artists, art for social change and justice, and contemporary art and its artists and their theoretical material such as books and documentaries. Or we can start at the very beginning, and start with the humble pencil. My experience is an MA in Art, and a lifetime of being passionate about drawing and observing by being a naturalist. Combining the two led me to mostly drawing animals and plants, but people too and from imagination. The wonderful writer, poet and thinker John O'Donohue, once said something in his beautiful book based on the Celtic tradition titled 'Anam Cara' (meaning soul friend), to gaze at something is to take it inside of you.
