I like to think that I'm a very user-friendly teacher. My first lesson is always a "get to know you" session, where we talk about where we're from, what we do, what our interests are, and why you're learning English, what your goals are. I like to think that I'm a very user-friendly teacher. My first lesson is always a "get to know you" session, where we talk about where we're from, what we do, what our interests are, and why you're learning English, what your goals are. At the same time, I'm assessing your level to ensure that we work with appropriate material - not too difficult, which will make you not want to continue; not too easy, I don't want you to be bored!
My approach is structured, working with texts and worksheets to focus on particular vocabulary or grammar; but I always like to tailor classes to the individual, and to ensure that you can apply what you learn to your own experience. So within the study is always conversation, always bringing the topic back to you. And when there's something specific that you want to study or to discuss, we can
build a class around that. Perhaps you have to prepare a presentation. We can do a lesson focussing on the phrases we use to structure a presentation. Or you have an English oral exam coming up. We can practise the skills you need to do that successfully.
I've been teaching English for ten years now, I've taught adults and teenagers, one-to-one and in groups, face to face and online. Before that I worked in television, working as a film editor and manager. In my free time I play classical piano (I have a lesson once a week), I practice photography, I love cinema, television, and walking in the amazing countryside outside the city where I live.
