Hello,
I am new to curriculum tutoring though I have been a practising teacher for thirty three years. As you will see below, I have tutored young pianists on an individual basis.
I've worked with children aged 3-11 throughout my career, but I feel I am at my best when working and playing with children from 3-7 years.
With my experience I can quickly deduce what methods will be the most beneficial for the pupil and of course I recognise that a 'hand's on' approach works very well with younger children and older pupils who are not ready for a more abstract approach.
I am a specialist in early years teaching and learning especially in English, Phonics, Maths and Music and am an SLE - Specialist Teacher in Education.
I have a Master's degree in Music Education and have given training sessions to groups of teachers to demonstrate how music can support in the development of early reading and maths.
I am also a pianist and have taught piano privately to Grade 8 standard (Associated Board of Music).
I myself had a difficult beginning to my 'educational career' but moving school and having a devoted and intuitive teacher helped me to overcome my difficulties and enjoy the successful career I have and continue to lead.
Every one of us is an individual and every child deserves to flourish and be proud of their achievements.
