With 13 years of experience as a secondary school maths teacher (QTS and DBS) and 17 years as a maths tutor, I find my work stimulating and hugely rewarding and always endeavour to get the best out of my students. I have extensive experience following the AQA and Edexcel exam boards for GCSE. This in-depth familiarity with their specific syllabi, examination styles, and assessment criteria enables me to provide targeted and effective tuition tailored to each exam board's unique requirements. I also have experience in preparing Key Stage 2 children for the Year 4 Timestables Test and Year 6 SATs, improving mathematical knowledge for Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3, and helping with homework for all abilities and ages.

I break down complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand, enabling students to make good progress and helping them build confidence in the subject. My approach to teaching maths is to determine my students' aims, assess their strengths, and identify any gaps in their knowledge to develop a personalised plan that not only improves their academic performance but also boosts their self-esteem.

In a typical first session, we begin by working through an exam paper. This diagnostic assessment allows me to identify the student’s strengths and areas for improvement. Based on this analysis, I can tailor subsequent sessions to address their specific needs. These lessons will include learning a new concept and applying that knowledge to questions of varying degrees of difficulty, finishing with exam type questions.
