Hello, I’m Victoria!
I am a primary school teacher, currently teaching a year 3 class of 30 children, with varying ability and needs (including SEN). I also have experience teaching in years and 6.
During my PGCE, I specialised in mathematics. I have always had a love of mathematics and sciences, so would be happy to teach these at secondary education level.
I believe my lessons are fun, memorable, stimulating and purposeful. I differentiate my lesson content, depending on the level and type of learner my student is. I always start with a recap of previous learning, to practice retrieval techniques and increase the learner’s probability of remembering key learning points. I then move on to the teaching input, before creating a motivational activity to help the learner to consolidate what I have taught. Depending on the learner, I will provide appropriate scaffolding, and gradually reduce this as their confidence and ability increase. I always end with a recap of the learning, which allows me to gauge how well the learner has understood and applied the taught content. I use this to inform my planning of my next lesson.
I believe that building a positive, kind relationship with the learner is important, as they need to feel happy, comfortable and confident in their learning environment.
Additionally, I am a qualified equestrian coach. I regularly coach individuals and groups of all ages, which has continuously enhanced my ability to adapt the style of teaching/coaching to individual requirements.
I look forward to working with you soon!
