I am an experienced English tutor, weeb and editor who decided that having two degrees in literature would be the most practical papers to have in life.

Prior to tutoring, I have lived and taught in a public school in Singapore. I studied in Singapore, Germany and Edinburgh during my academic years.

I spent 6 years tutoring high school students in Singapore and had students across generations send me off the airport when I had to migrate to Edinburgh, so building rapport with students and helping them achieve their academic goals is something I love doing and my students felt it too. Over 90% of my students scored and 'A' for their GCSEs in 2020.

I like asking students questions, prompting them to think critically. I also firmly believe in cultivating a firm foundation in examination techniques and essay formats that would help students achieve their desired grades. At the same time, I enjoy connecting lesson material to trends in the real world. The texts we analyse will be mined from authentic materials like op-eds from The New Yorker or the Atlantic.

Creative writing was my minor as an undergraduate, and I had the wonderful opportunity to be mentored by poet Jennifer Crawford, novelist Timothy O' Grady and screenwriter Ben Slater. In 2020, I also took online screenwriting lessons with Singaporean directors and screen writers Ivan Tan and Li Lin Wee. If we are having a lesson on writing narratives/fiction, you can bet we will discuss films and books and I am happy to share whatever tools of the trade I have learned from wonderful authors across the years.

I have an entire deck of slides to on standby for explaining characterisation, setting and themes in the anime series, Jujutsu Kaisen.
