With over 10 years of experience as a mathematics teacher for secondary school students, I have learned to structure my classes to fit the student's needs. I believe in the brain's ability to learn better when it can relate new information to what is already known; hence, I try to make my classes fun and interactive, using things the student can relate to.
I promise you would be eager to learn mathematics after the first class, as I bring my energy and philosophy of 'never say it's too difficult'.
I ensure to provide a deep understanding of mathematical concepts by helping the student see patterns in solving mathematical problems and the use of visual aids. I also set meaningful home assignments that builds on what we have learnt, and an example is having the student teach a person at home what they learnt from a lesson.
Another effective methodology I have developed over the years is the use of strategic questioning, which enables the student to reflect on what they have learnt and appreciate their inate ability to solve whatever problem is presented.
I have experience in one-to-one lessons, in a classroom setting with a group of students, and exam preparation groups like extra mural classes. I have my first degree in Marine Technology and I am currently studying for a Masters degree in Social Work, which helps to show my passion to work with people and bring out the best in them. So be rest assured that you are in good hands to becoming an excellent mathematics student.
