I have 15 years experience of teaching French and have taught in primary and secondary schools. I also have just over 5 years of being a Pastoral Manager, so I know that children learn best when they are enjoying what they do and are happy. I like my lessons to be interactive, with a variety of activities so that it keeps interest levels high. I combine listening, speaking, reading and writing activities but will obviously tailor lessons to each student's needs. I know that many people worry about getting things wrong, but I would much rather you have a go and make a mistake, than not try at all. We all make mistakes sometimes and that is how we learn. I love playing games and doing puzzles with students, as they are a great way of checking understanding, without being too formal or scary. When learning a language, repetition is key and I don't mind finding lots of different ways to explain the same thing if you are having trouble understanding something. I will be happy to help you to get there in the end. I feel that learning a language is so important, as it also contains many transferable skills - communication, working with others, being able to identify key information and perseverance to name a few. In my opinion language learning should be fun and I hope my enthusiasm comes across. I can't wait to help you to feel more confident in French, no matter what level you have started off at!
