My teaching style can be described as results driven. Since I typically work with students one on one, I always try to clearly define the goals with each one. Not what I want to achieve, but what they want to achieve, what they expect from the lesson and their end goal. Then, considering their current level of knowledge and ability to apply their knowledge , and what kind of personality they are, I come up with a clear plan to help them to achieve their full potential and goal, including some milestones and tests, in order to evaluate their progress regularly. And just then do I choose my teaching methods, adjusting them to the plan and the ultimate goal I have with the student.
I use PowerPoints as a platform for learning and expanding on the topic covered. Each lesson will finish with examination questions, relating to the topic. I usually email the questions prior to the lesson so that the student can either print them off or become familiar with them. After the lesson I email the PowerPoint and answers to the student so that they can be used for revision source later on or just as a tool to revisit the lesson.
I believe that a good lesson will include the following 4A's :
The four components are:
Activate prior knowledge
Acquire new knowledge
Application
Assessment
