Understanding how children learn is key. I get to know my students and find out where they are on their learning journeys, before planning to meet their needs in a way that works for them. My lessons will involve lots of practical elements as well as a variety of learning styles. There will be shared thinking and discussion as well as direct teaching based on the objectives we need to achieve. I have been a primary teacher for 13 years across key stage 1 and 2 so I am familiar with the expectations and assessment of all primary subjects. I quickly identify any gaps in knowledge or understanding and always plan creatively to address these aspects first. Lessons will be engaging, fun and highly relevant. I ensure my pupils progress in manageable steps and I am always ready to respond to new learning needs. Resolving any current misunderstandings as well as building secure foundations in the subject is critical. I always encourage ambition and confidence and these are the fundamentals on which my teaching is built. During my teaching career I have been a KS1 leader as well as the Science lead for the whole school for many years. I have frequently organised events and visitors for all classes, as I believe in enriching the curriculum wherever possible. Earlier in my career, I also taught English as an additional language and more recently, I have really enjoyed watching pupils progress whilst tutoring 1-1.

My daughter loves Mrs Clifford’s lesson. She finds the lesson is stimulating, fun and opened another new perspective for her. Mrs Clifford helps identify where my child’s pain points and works on it. It is clear that my daughter literacy skills have developed under Mrs Clifford’s care. It’s great to see how visible and confident my child carry forward particularly on her writing. Personally, I would like to find a qualified teacher with strong school experience in my child’s age group and older children too who could encourage her to develop her skills and build hers/mine confidence further. Mrs Clifford has very calm relaxing voice, it is always so pleasant to see her and she is definitely the right teacher for us.
