I have 8 years of experience teaching Russian to businessmen and social workers in Finland, teaching clients in English. Initially, it was a suggestopedia-based method, using various technics to increase students' engagement and make teaching immersive. The main focus is made, in the case of beginner’s level students, on familiarisation with and recognition of the Russian alphabet, followed by a step-by-step reading of words and small texts, mastering pronunciation, understanding of short sentences, and starting talking! Explaining how it works - and giving examples. Short dialogues. Helping students to complete sentences, fill in omitted words, combine new words, and finally, take part in a conversation.
More advanced levels involve more extensive use of lexical material, working through various topics of everyday life.
Approving, encouraging, endorsing!
