Hi. I'm a classic mentor, in other words a mentor in the classic sense, with some important "modern" and even "nextgen" enhancements, but nonetheless, a mentor, which translates today as Life Coach; and I am "classic," meaning that I teach all subjects according to the principles of the Classical Liberal Arts and Sciences (you can learn more about that in my upcoming blog!). You might best think of me as your big brother if you're a kid, or your slightly eccentric uncle if you're older, just returned from the New World, who traveled, lived, learned and did alot...
I am also an internationally recognised researcher and teacher of Classical Greek Theatre, a director and dramatist, and a graduate of the top universities of the American and French educational systems (Harvard, École normal supérieure, Actors Studio School of Dramatic Arts). And I have been a very successful entrepreneur. An important part of that research involved the creation of unique Liberal Arts & Science curricula and the fusion of classical learning systems with modern pedagogies and nextgen technologies. Part of my training at Harvard connected the child and adult development sciences built by Jean Piaget, Lawrence Kohlberg, de la Garanderie with the meditation disciplines of India, Tibet and the teachings of the first Christian fathers and mothers (I am a theologian) which I transfered to my practice as an artist and teacher following the examples of Jack Engler and Daniel Brown, my own mentors ( you can read more about that in my blog as well).
What we do together is discover everything your child or you yourself missed in school, university or on the job, that was unfortunately missing from your school or university from the start, by showing you: how one builds a life path, a personal growth and learning plan; how one populates it with role models, both living and past, and cultivates a community of peers and teachers enlisted in your cause; where to look for and how to organise your materials and build your learning capital; how not to become a test-monkey or a classroom zombie but always serve yourself, even in the evaluation and assessment process; I teach the difference between professional competence, general culture and mental discipline and show you their distinct value and role in success.
I teach and mentor mainly through dialogue the subjects I love most: mathematics, the language and dramatic arts (theatre and rhetoric), music, science, logic and the theory of knowledge. I love to collaborate as a mentor with your other teachers or with your family and students and I like to invite my parents and students to play and share with one another the unique learning tools and applications I use for structuring our lessons and even engaging in peer learning sessions with other members of the FindTutors community studying with me. Sessions take the form of 45 minute to 70 minute one on one encounters, especially in the case of Life Coaching, but sometimes, on request, they can be one on more especially in some of the arts, language or science disciplines and the STEAM and project based learning. We will use simple, concrete, practical "operative" (to use a technical term) challenges you encounter on your path as a launching point to deeper knowledge and disciplines, or even design some especially for you at different stages, and use those as means of knowing what we know and what we don't, what we want and what we don't dynamically and we use that to structure solutions on the fly and all our activities, study and homework between sessions.
I serve my students, young and old, by placing in their hands the powerful learning approaches, contents and tools developed for such prestigious research and academic institutions as the University of the Arts London, the University of Cambridge, the French Ministry of Research and Space, Hellenic Festival, The national Theatre of Greece, the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, the University of Patras, Kufstein Hochschule, the State University of California and many schools including Bradfield College and the Prototype Arts School System of Greece, among others.
