As an aerospace engineering graduate starting the 3rd year this October, I have studied my fair share of maths and physics at this point. While studying these subjects might not be everyone's idea of fun, i strongly believe that the correct approach will result in a lot less stress and potentially some enjoyment, as the topics explored in both maths and physics have immense implications about the world around us and give skills useful to most. The correct approach heavily depends on the student, therefore I cant say that I have unearthed some long-kept secret about learning and found the best teaching style there is.
However, I strongly believe that solid foundations and a good understanding of the fundamentals are vital to comprehending more advanced topics in both maths and physics, and therefore by making sure there are no gaps there, we can move on at an appropriate pace, and cover any material needed. Studying derivations might look dull and even a waste of time, but I really cant overstate how much it can help when revising or covering new material as instead of forcing us to memorize seemingly separate ideas it gives us instead a deeper, more connected understanding of how things work. This is found throughout Physics chapters, be it mechanics or electromagnetism, and solid background in maths makes this understanding possible.
As you might tell I am quite passionate about these subjects, even if I might not have quite liked some of the topics covered when I was studying the A levels, although looking back, my lack of enthusiasm was mostly due to not completely grasping those topics.
I look forward to helping you in this amazing journey of studying these subjects.
