So, generally the needs of the student are discussed prior to the first lesson, and we discuss what plan we can implement. I try to keep the student in the loop as much as I can so that the lesson is tailored specifically to their needs. Whichever topic we are covering in the next lesson, I let the student know beforehand, and create a slideshow containing exam-style questions on that topic. I start off by showing them how it works, explaining key concepts, rules and exceptions etc., then allowing them to practice with some pre-made questions.
