I believe in using methods that suit each individual for optimum calculations in the simplest of forms.
Students will be engaged throughout and asked to share their working out patterns for certain numerical problems. This means it’s not my way or the highway, but rather we travel together down the road.
I found to be more interested in my lessons with a teacher who felt more like a friend and would actively try to get us involved in the class rather than just reading from notes or a black/whiteboard.
I will be using a format which would break up topics individually in order for a better understanding of each topic.
For example we will have a topic on using Pythagoras theory which will be broken down right to its original concept. We will then explore alternative ways of working out or calculating the measurements needed of each triangular shape.
At the end of our class we will be learning to love numbers rather than see them as a confusing topic that requires a lot of brain function.
We will learn how to break down large numbers in our heads quicker than other people can write them.
I’m my own experience, learning my times tables thoroughly by heart at a young age has helped me be able to calculate quite complex maths issues either with large numbers or a lot of calculations (many uses of subtraction, addition and so forth).
We will also learn to love numbers through BODMAS and such. Can’t wait to start teaching you all my methods!!
