Hi, I'm Usama. I'm a highly-qualified tutor with 8+ years of experience teaching KS2-Undergraduate level Physics, Chemistry and Maths as well as experience as an assistant teacher at Secondary School level. I have previously taught Edexcel, OCR A and Cambridge board at GCSE and A Level. I am familiar with differences between various exam boards and can tailor lessons to your needs.
My expertise is in Theoretical Physics, having completed my MSc from Imperial College London in 2022. I am currently a PhD student at the University of Nottingham, focussing on techniques to determine the theoretical nature of Dark Matter.
My main objective in my teaching process is to provide my student with the ability to independently study. I focus on techniques that allow the student to master the intricacies of complicated problems. For instance, I like to embed in the student, a set of guiding principles which allow the student to tackle a set of topics quickly and relatively easily (especially for A Level Physics and Chemistry). For Mathematics, I like to go a little further and expose the student to complicated examples for a subject. One of the most important transferrable skills from Maths education is problem solving, and the best way that Maths education is done is through example.
I primarily use collaborative whiteboards where I am able to present and the student is able to also scribble and write down their ideas about a concept. I’m a very creative person and like to draw useful illustrations for the student in order to aid their visualisation of problems in Physics and Chemistry.
