As a tutor, I use a variety of methods, such as asking questions to assess a student's understanding, breaking down complex concepts into simpler parts, and providing examples to illustrate key points. This is to create a customised experience for each student and directly suit their needs. I may also use visual aids, such as diagrams or charts, to help students better understand difficult concepts. This is because I understand that each student learns in different ways and in different paces. As an older sister of 4 I am constantly working with different minds and adapting my style of teaching to fit each of my siblings. In my free time I also tutor other students and have learnt the ways that they learn and how they differ from each other. Each student is unique and thus my approach towards each of them alters. I also use games or other interactive activities to make learning more engaging and enjoyable for students. This is because I understand that students take the most information in when they are genuinely enjoying learning. Additionally, I use practice problems or quizzes to help students reinforce their learning and identify areas where they need additional help. These assessments help me understand what topics we need to work on. They also help me understand why they may struggle at times since there’s usually a pattern of areas that one may struggle in. As a student who has done my GCSEs and SATs recently I have greater understanding of how current exams work and what examiners are looking for.
