Hello, my name is Umaimah.
I am currently a medical student at UCL and next year will be studying an intercalated degree in Global Health, where I will have lots of spare time to tutor and hopefully flexibly slot you in for lessons.
I remember how stressful I found A-Level Biology and the number of questions I had pertaining to just a single concept, so I hope to be able to help you by tailoring sessions to suit you, answering any questions you might have no matter how small they are, and making Biology fun and interesting - I promise you, it really is a great subject that you all have the capacity to smash!
My first lesson is a free 30 minute session wherein the student and I discuss their particular weak points, whether that be exam questions or understanding concepts, and what they hope to get out of my tutoring.
- From there I can also get a grasp of their preferred style of teaching (diagrams, words, pictures etc) through initially going over the basics of biology at their level.
- Each lesson lasts for an hour (flexible and can last for longer if preferred):
20 minutes - answering any questions they have from exam papers or difficult concepts
20 minutes - explaining and teaching the topic they requested
20 minutes - exam style questions on chosen topic
-Past experience in tutoring GCSE students, teaching primary school children Spanish and mentoring 16-18 year olds in helping them get into medical school
