I travelled to Burkina Faso in the year 2013 as an English/Dance instructor volunteer. I lived there for 14 months and that is where I learned to speak fluent French. I went to the schools and universities to teach English and in turn studied to improve my French as well. After my time there, I generated my modules and began to teach French to students in Nigeria and Ghana. I also started translation and transcription of the language.
I use comprehensive PPT and repetitive methods to teach. I also encourage speaking in the language as much as possible. This helps to retain memories. Furthermore, I incorporate short clips and poems into the lessons. This helps, especially with younger students. Eventually, consistency is a major factor.
