Each student is different but typically I like to always reassure my students and make them feel at ease. It's important to create a safe space where they feel comfortable to thrive yet also comfortable making mistakes as that is part of learning. I feel it's as important to connect on both a professional and personal level with my students to find a bit more about them and vice versa. I was always inspired by the teachers that made an effort to get to know me and background on music and why I started when I was younger as it showed they genuinely cared. Students can also expect me to identify their strengths and weaknesses and tailor my lessons around that. I usually use Trinity Rock and Pop school's teaching syllabus when submitting students for grades. If they don't want to be taught grades I'm more than happy to help teach them gain confidence with learning skills on each instrument. I definitely try to always make the lessons fun and enjoyable, as well as being focused on the task at hand. This is because I have found that in my experience of teaching balance is key, as well as variation.
