Hi, my name is Tulsi, and I recently completed A-levels in Maths, Biology and Chemistry.

Hi, my name is Tulsi, and I recently completed A-levels in Maths, Biology and Chemistry.

Having been a tutor for almost two years, I've trialled and tested different methods and seen which is best. I tutor students according to how I see they learn best. For example, a student could be more of a visual learner than a kinaesthetic learner- so I use visual methods such as notes, diagrams and more diagram-based videos to help the student learn better. To see how they learn, in a trial lesson, I will test different ways to see how the student learns best.

When I tutored GCSE Maths to the Higher students, they all happened to be students that needed me to go through a few examples on a sub-topic, watching how it is done, then gave them a few made up questions on my own going through each difficulty level to help them understand questions.

When tutoring in a subject such as English, it depends on what the student needs help in. Sometimes, this could be writing techniques they struggle with. In this example, I give them a crash course in writing techniques they could use, then I give them a short story ideas and ask them to write something compelling in whatever task they choose.

For something practical such as Sciences, it depends on the depth of the course. For example, at A-level, I use more colourful ways such as personalised diagrams and videos to help them understand as this is what worked for me and many more students.

In languages, I tend to repeat practice simple and basic words and ask the students to form sentences and in further lessons, develop this skill. Repeat, practice, and forming sentences is vital to help a student learn a language.

Finally, I also teach piano to students, as a non-academic passion of mine. My highest level student is currently at ABRSM Grade 2. My former student is at ABRSM Grade 5 right now.

Look forward to having you as a student! My lessons are not only educational, but also very engaging!
