Troy Matthias-Talbot

Hi there :) I am Troy and I'm super excited to help you learn and grow!
My lessons are always fun, inclusive and a safe space to learn, without the fear of embarrassment from mistakes or misunderstanding. For all of you struggling whether it be with essay writing, speaking exams or parts of speech, fear not! We can get through this together.

I am a BA German and Mandarin Chinese graduate with A-levels French, German and Maths. I partook in choirs and drama performances throughout my academic career. In my spare time, I enjoy discovering new places, photography, and journaling.

I have experience working in a Primary school as a teaching assistant, aiding Year 4 students with literacy and maths. During my studies, I was an English Language Assistant in Southern Germany. I worked at a boarding school with students between the ages of 10 and 20.

We'll organise a 45 min consultation session to discuss what your needs are so I create a programme tailored to you. Within this time, we'll discuss what your struggles are, how you learn best, and we'll set a goal to work towards. The sessions hereafter will last an hour.

Each session will begin with a recap on the previous lesson, and a starter task which will lead into our area of focus for the day. Every lesson will practice skills from at least two of the following:


Reading , Writing, Speaking, Listening.



For conversation classes, we'll make a list of topics to discuss. For each topic, I will provide a variety of articles, video clips and songs.

I'm also happy to create and share a resource list for students to use upon request.
