My lessons are dynamic, interactive, and tailored to engage students while building their confidence in Geography. With four months of experience teaching the UK Geography National Curriculum to Years 7 through 10, I have developed an effective teaching style that combines a variety of formats and tools to create a well-rounded learning experience.
Each 50-minute session is thoughtfully structured to include clear explanations, interactive discussions, and practical exercises. I use a mix of videos, textbooks, and real-world examples to make topics relatable and easier to grasp. Exam papers and exam-style questions are incorporated regularly to help students practice and refine their skills, ensuring they feel prepared for assessments.
In Year 7, I focus on building foundational knowledge with topics like “What is Geography,” natural resources, earthquakes and volcanoes, Africa, the economy, and Russia. These lessons are designed to spark curiosity and develop essential geographical skills. For Year 8, I introduce more specialized topics, including ecosystems and biomes, rivers, population studies, glaciated landscapes, and the Middle East, fostering connections between natural and human systems.
Year 9 lessons emphasize advanced concepts such as weather and climate, development, world cities, Asia, and climate change, encouraging critical thinking about global issues. By Year 10, the focus shifts to in-depth studies of diversity, physical, human, environmental, and ecosystem geography, preparing students for higher-level analysis and exams.
My goal is to make learning Geography enjoyable and empowering, helping students build knowledge, confidence, and critical thinking skills for academic success.
