The initial lessons will be to gauge the pupils' strengths and weaknesses in the given subject. A plan will be devised for the duration of the time that they are under my tutelage, which will work to target weaknesses, while also not neglecting to improve upon strengths.
Concepts are explained at the beginning of a lesson, expanded upon throughout the lesson, with exam-style questions are given at the end of the lesson. Follow up exam-style questions will be placed randomly throughout different lessons (for example, a question about trigonometry may be given when the main lesson of that day was focused on quadratic equations), to ensure that the pupil is always astute with what the exam questions may be asking the pupil to do, and so they are not mindlessly toiling away at the same type of question for the duration of a lesson.
Progress reports are given roughly halfway through the duration of tutelage, to pinpoint any major weaknesses, whilst also breeding confidence in the areas that the pupil excels at.
Maths is a beautiful language that once understood, humbles and enlightens any individual who dares to tackle it. An aspect that is so often neglected is understanding maths over just knowing. Anyone can name Pythagoras' Theorem, or the first hundred digits in Pi, but to understand how why Pythagoras' Theorem works the way it does, or to understand how unbelievably simple, yet brilliant Pi is, is something that I wish to bring to pupils and people alike. I have a genuine passion for Maths, and I hope that passion is translated and absorbed by anyone under my tutelage.
