Hello,
I have a history of press and PR work, with experience of the public sector and for voluntary organisations such as four local authorities, a college and a cancer charity. My most invigorating role was for the Hong Kong government as a Senior Press Officer where I organised the Chief Executive of Hong Kong’s UK visit in 2011. This involved coordinating visits to Parliament, Kensington Palace, HSBC Private Bank and a multi-trip to Edinburgh.
I am experienced in blogging, copywriting, speech writing and creating complex logistics, marketing and strategic plans from delivery to implementation, including GANTT charts and other project management tools. I hold a Diploma in Public Relations, degree in Modern English Studies and an NVQ4 in Journalism.
From under the remit of Simply… PR Solutions, I undertook a former role as an Editor for World Economic Intelligence Group (WorldEI) for publications, including the UAE -Building a Knowledge Economy (2016) and the ASEAN 50th Anniversary booklet, as well as Tanzania: Today for Tomorrow. I approached content producers, who were government officials, thought-leaders/academics and business owners in their fields; to secure content. I also wrote content myself. My responsibilities included editing, laying out flatplans and working with designers to ensure content fit the brief. I was responsible for titles, fact-checking and allocating page placing of adverts. I am now, ideally, looking for a role in entertainment, IT, travel, health, education, world issues or government/politics.
I also hold a PGCE PCET and am a teacher of English. I have run my own private teaching/tutoring agency (2002-15) and tutored privately (KS2-5) following teaching placements in schools. I worked as an examiner of the GCSE English foundation paper for AQA examination board for ten years and went on to examine for the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM) on Journalism and Marketing related courses.
I enjoy working with IT systems, and worked as an IT-helpdesk support agent after university - for Inbev UK (formerly Whitbread plc). In this role, I learned networking, asset tracking, web animation and web design, and change management for IT requests. I then did a University Certificate in ICT at the University of Bedfordshire, comprising of: e-Commerce, Networking, Hardware Diagnostics and Web Animation/Design. I did the CLAIT web-design qualification and understand how to use Dreamweaver and Fireworks (under the Macromedia suite).
For social media planning, I have designed campaigns and have used Hootsuite for planning and have written email, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook campaigns, amongst others. I can use Hootsuite, Tweetdeck and other platforms for social media management, including Canva for design elements. I am quick with IT and can pick up new ideas speedily and efficiently. I enjoy registering hashtags for maximum effect with and type at 80wpm, with shorthand of around 90wpm.
