About me

I have worked in the education sector for over 6 years now. Something I have learnt along the way and something I keep at the centre of my teaching is to teach according to the students learning styles. Many tutors have a specific teaching style but that’s not a one size fits all, so I try really hard to understand how the child learns and adapt my teaching accordingly.

I currently work with an autistic boy and have been working with him and his 4 siblings for the past 5 years. After his diagnosis I helped the family apply for an EHCP which aptly represented the child and his needs.

Working with any child refines qualities such as patience, compassion and self control and for this I am forever grateful. Working with special needs children opens up a beautiful world of diverse thoughts and feelings. whilst I love teaching all people with a variety of learning styles, I particularly like teaching neurodiverse students.

In the past I have provided SEN support for a child at school working closely with his SALT and OT. I have also set up and run a homeschooling program for him and that has been successful for over a year now.

I have training qualifications in conducting the attention Autism program and try to incorporate this method into every lesson. I have also acquired a level 2 qualification in working with SEN children in education.

I started off tutoring voluntarily with a charity called team up during university, providing additional support in maths and english for students at key stage 3-4. I worked with them for 2 years and then started doing private tuition through word of mouth. It was during this phase in life that I fell in love with teaching and seeing students progress.
