Hi! I graduated from my Master’s degree in Warwick University with Distinction. My specialisation is in philosophy of art and literature, and methodologically I lean more towards continental philosophy. I am, however, also fully trained and apt in analytical philosophy.
After graduation, I’ve worked as an English tutor for a college, gaining experience of conducting personalised lessons and thinking about each student’s unique trajectory of learning.
When I teach, I like to use a wide variety of texts and to emphasise reading philosophical texts. (Don’t worry, I won’t make you read Kant!) I think critical reading skills are essential for practising philosophy, and for practicing it well. Responding to texts is also the easiest way to train your own thinking!
Reading goes hand in hand with writing, and I like to have students write something from time to time. Practising expressing your thoughts in writing is also an essential skill for a budding philosopher.
Of course, not all activities have to be as intense as these, and I’m really all about helping you not only figure out philosophy but also to figure out who you are as a learner. How do you learn the best? What can we do to make sure you are getting the most out of these lessons?
I conduct all lessons remotely via Zoom!
In short, I am a tutor who wants to help you hone your argumentative and analytical skills, whatever that may look like for you. I’m very open to modifying my teaching to suit your needs, whether that is a learning difficulty or a preference.
