My goal is to offer you a bespoke programme that is interactive and engaging. I take the position that we are not students of politics for one semester or class, but for life. I want to prepare you to become a lifelong student of politics, to be a critical thinker and to be an active citizen.
During our classes I will teach you about the fundamentals of politics. You will learn about the key texts about politics, but also you will learn about the lesser know people and organisations who have shaped our world in the political arena.
I also want to apply your learning to your life. I believe that everything is political. My academic studies have taught me that there is a discernible difference between big and small p politics. Big P politics, Party politics, has an important role to play in galvanising activists, creating platforms, shaping movements and organising. But small p politics is more about the lives we lead, the choices we make and the impact we have on the world around us. I am of the belief that everything is political, because the decisions made by politicians at the national, devolved and local levels impact and shape every aspect of our lives. Subsequently being politically aware and engaged isn’t just about voting or being a member of a party; it’s about being politically aware, being an active citizen and serving others.
My specialisms are:
US Politics | British Politics and political history since 1945 | Devolution in Wales | Politics and the media | political campaigns.
