Hi, my name is Tom! I am an event graduate from Durham with a first class degree in history. I have a lot of experience in achieving high marks in history and English having achieved a 9s at GCSE and A*s at A-Level. These marks have all come from hard work and knowing exactly how to approach exams and revision. I think my recent experience of developing these techniques will mean I am able to offer valuable tutoring to those approaching public exams.
My teaching would largely be exam focused. I know from personal experience that during revision it’s easy to get bogged down in learning all the dates and names. While this is vital for success, it leaves learning exactly how to approach the exam to the wayside. For this reason my teaching approach would help students navigate past papers and feel less overwhelmed by the questions asked. This would not mean just answering questions in their entirety (which would be incredibly boring!). Instead a focus would be maintained on different parts of the answer, in order to build a solid structure to feel comfortable answering any question. Once these skills are learnt the higher ranges marks will be easily attainable.
In the past I have volunteered as a French teacher and know how to be adaptable to different people’s needs.
