Maths and Physics are problem solving disciplines, but the problems cannot be solved without the prior understanding. My lessons will begin with establishing a student's familiarity with underlying methods and principles, if these are not properly understood then some time should be taken to go over this with the student, and they can ask any questions to help with clarity. Once the principles are understood the fun begins, I will go through problems with students to ensure that they can apply the concepts in environments that they may see in an exam, we will work through problems together and I will try to make sure they approach exam questions properly to give them the best chance of success. However I believe tutoring should be driven by the student, and if there are any particular ways in which a student learns best I am more than happy to hear them!
