Tom Robertson

I've spent many years teaching Fine Art at degree level, specialising in painting within a contemporary art practice. Over the years I have regularly worked with learners between ages 18-70+ at all skill levels.

Our sessions will be tailored to fit your individual requirements and will be entirely unique to you, forming a dialogue to build a framework for you to become an autonomous, confident painter. I'm well versed in practical and conceptual aspects of a painting practice and I have excellent knowledge of the technical aspects of paint and pigments (I produce my own oil paint). Sessions will generally be around 45-60 minutes.

It has been my wish for a number of years to bring my experience to those who feel that a formalised educational environment may not a good fit for their needs, yet who still wish to expand and explore facets of who they are through painting.

I have a wide range of knowledge and specialise in leveraging historical technical knowledge and applying this within a contemporary painting practice. My aim is to equip you with the tools to develop a visual language of your own, so you can confidently work towards and discover what it is you want to say through paint, on your own terms.

If you are looking for guidance outside of a formalised university environment, yet have a creative fire burning inside of you, with a wish to explore and expand on your understanding of the world and where you fit in it, then my sessions will be ideally placed for you!
