I am a passionate Biology tutor with over 10 years of experience teaching SACE stage 1 and 2 Biology. I also work for the SACE board moderating student work and marking the exam. I have developed a deep working knowledge of the course which enables me to support all students at the level they require. I am currently a registered teacher.

What a lesson usually looks like:
I structure my lessons to be an hour long, they are broken into 20 minute parts.

In the first part I will teach a concept, this may be lecture style or a discussion about the concept. I show images and diagrams to help students understand the concept.

The second part involved the student doing an applied activity (hands on if possible), where students use the concept they have just learnt about in context. This enables me to see if the student has enough understanding to continue or if I need to provide some more support to improve their understanding.

The third part of the lesson we will work through past SACE exam questions. With the exam being 30% of the students grade it is important that they can perform well in the exam. The best preparation for this is working through practice questions, identifying concepts that need more practice and developing a study plan around these concepts.

This is a rough overview of how I work however I will adapt my teaching the needs of my students and as such I will work differently with each student.
