I am degree educated in business management with 10+ years working in management in healthcare. This allows me to teach business English or professional English as well as day to day English.
Working with the elderly has also show me that every one is different and learns differently. So I prefer to teach in a student focused way, adapting to different learning methods and styles to suit each individual student.
My classes are fun and varied enabling maximum learning. Without variation students can often switch off, the human brain can only concentrate for so long and there’s a clear correlation between time and concentration levels. So by varying and mixing up lessons keeps students engaged in the subject to get the maximum benefit in the time provided.
I prefer not to give specific homework or tasks but studying definitely helps to absorb the language. So studying is recommended in between lessons. I will also take the time to get to know you so that the lesson can be adapted around your likes and dislikes, students are often more engaged in subjects that matter to them.
Me for example I like to read, watch sports and spend time with my family including my three dogs. So learning about animals and sports often keeps me engaged in the lesson for longer, when learning a foreign language.
About me, I am calm and relaxed, I encourage students to take their time and work things out themselves. But also it’s important to know when to step in and offer a helping hand.
