As a geography tutor, I have accrued rich experience teaching high schools pupils across key stages 3-5 over 9 months of teaching in two secondary schools in Greater Manchester. My journey in education began with tutoring KS2 pupils in preparation for 11+ exams (over a period of 2 years), where I successfully guided them to achieve their goals; more recently I have conducted private tutoring in preparation for GCSE exams whilst completing my teacher training in 2024. My methodology is multifaceted and designed to engage and challenge students at every level. My lessons typically begin with a knowledge recall activity to retrieve foundational knowledge and support the comprehension of new content. This would be followed by a deep delve into the subject matter, incorporating a variety of interactive activities (quizzes, higher order questioning, image analysis and extended writing), and ending with an exit-pass style plenary exercise - this is to measure that key takeaways of the lesson have been retained by the pupil. As a tutor, I am a patient and passionate individual, who is dedicated to fostering a love for geography. I strive to reveal the relevancy of subject content to everyday life through the provision of powerful knowledge and I seek to identify key strengths and areas for improvement to realise the success of my pupils in geography. As a tutor, I aim to marry the imperative for academic excellence with the ambition for pupils to locate their priorities and to be the best that they can be.
